Every woman an Indian Princess
Every man known as Chief
All the children want to play cowboys
Stuck in time
Stuck in time

All the wisdom of the elders
Every one of their greatest words
Are printed on sepia postcards
Stuck in time
Stuck in time

When did I last ride horseback?
Dressed in feathers and buckskin?
Oh, where did I get lost in time?

Can't stop the drums in silence
Can't be trapped in black and white
Won't go quietly into oblivion
Stuck in time
Stuck in time

ABOUT STUCK IN TIME

The above photo sort of says it all. Time Warp!

The idea for the song came from a book by Vine Deloria, Jr. He said that the world has a perception of the Indian which is frozen in time, in buckskin and on horseback. He's an amazing writer who provides some very frank commentary about being a contemporary Indian. He says it without sugar coating.

The Diva likes that!

CUSTER DIED FOR YOUR SINS: AN INDIAN MANIFESTO by Vine Deloria, Jr.

Still relevant years after it's initial release, Vine is full of venom for the dominant culture. If you're Indian, you're likely to cheer...if you're not, you will most likely be very, very angry. Despite all of the negativity, this is still a great book. If you think you know Indians and you haven't read this book...well, I don't think you know us at all.
